The Environmental Change Network is the UK’s long-term environmental monitoring and research (LTER) programme. We make regular measurements of plant and animal communities and their physical and chemical environment. Our long-term datasets are used to increase understanding of the effects of climate change, air pollution and other environmental pressures on UK ecosystems.
ECN is the UK member of the International Long-Term Ecological Research Network (ILTER) and of LTER-Europe. ECN is a multi-agency programme sponsored by a consortium of UK government departments and agencies (https://ecn.ac.uk/what-we-do/about/consortium). These organisations contribute to the programme through funding either site monitoring and/or network co-ordination activities. ECN data is hosted by UKCEH on behalf of the UK research community: https://eidc.ac.uk/
